Cory Althoff initially studied political science, but his true passion was in programming. Despite his degree not being in programming, he learned the skill and landed a job as a software engineer at eBay Inc. in September 2014.
After only six months, he moved to Thuuz Sports in June 2015, maintaining his role as a software engineer. In January 2016, he joined Little, Brown Book Group to kickstart his career as an author.
Cory released his debut book, “The Self-Taught Programmer: The Definitive Guide to Programming Professionally,” on December 26, 2016. The book gained significant success, making it to Amazon’s Best Sellers list in various categories with nearly two thousand reviews and an average rating of 4.5/5.
Following this success, he signed with Wiley Publishing Company in January 2020. While working on his second book, he took on the role of Developer Advocate at Vonage in February 2021.
His second book, “The Self-Taught Computer Scientist: The Beginner’s Guide to Data Structures & Algorithms,” was published in October 2021. Shortly after, he left Vonage and Wiley to become the SVP of Coding Programs at CompTIA.
Over the last 18 months, Cory experienced several promotions, currently holding the position of SVP of Software Development Programs.
